Retrobymistake ("we", "us", or "our") operates the GRIDY mobile application published on Google Play (package name com.gridy) and the website gridy.retrobymistake.com. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect information — including data stored on your device and data Google Play may classify as sensitive — so users can make informed choices before installing or using the app.

Data deletion disclaimer

You may request deletion of personal data we store on our servers (such as progress, scores, or an optional nickname linked to your device identifier). Email us with the subject "GRIDY data deletion request" and include your device identifier if you know it. We will verify legitimate requests and aim to complete deletion within 30 days where applicable law requires it. Local data on your device is not removed by a server deletion request — uninstall the app or clear app storage to delete on-device data. We cannot delete information held by Google (Play Billing, AdMob, Firebase) on your behalf; use Google's account and ad settings for those services. Deletion requests are handled on a best-effort basis; cached backups or aggregated analytics may persist for a limited time after processing.

This page is the privacy policy URL linked from our Google Play store listing for com.gridy. It describes how GRIDY handles user and device data in the Android app and on our website. Our declarations in Google Play Console (Data safety, target audience, ads, and permissions) are consistent with this policy.

Information we collect

We collect only what is needed to run the game, save progress, show ads in the free version, and fix problems. We do not sell personal information. We do not collect contacts, photos, microphone audio, precise location, health data, or government IDs.

Anonymous device identifier (UUID) generated and stored on your device to sync saves, highscores, and campaign progress with our game servers.
Optional display nickname if you choose one in the app settings.
Gameplay and progress data (levels completed, scores, campaign state, in-app achievements) linked to your device identifier.
Advertising identifiers (such as Google Advertising ID) when you use the free, ad-supported version of the app.
Purchase status for premium / ad-free features processed through Google Play Billing (we do not receive your payment card details).
Technical diagnostic data when the app or website errors, such as device model, operating system version, app version, IP address, and timestamps.
On this website only: an optional functional cookie (gridy_locale) to remember your language preference.

Data stored on your device

Some information stays on your phone or tablet and is not sent to us unless needed for sync, ads, billing, or error reporting as described below.

A random device UUID in secure app storage, used to identify your save data on our servers without requiring a login.
Local game progress, settings, and cached puzzle or campaign data so the app works offline.
Your optional nickname and in-app preferences stored locally until synced.
Advertising consent choices managed through Google’s consent tools where applicable.
You can remove on-device data by clearing the app’s storage in Android settings or uninstalling the app.

Sensitive user & device data

Google Play and privacy laws may treat certain data as sensitive. GRIDY handles the following carefully and only for the stated purposes:

Device identifiers (UUID, Android ID where applicable, advertising ID): used for save sync, fraud prevention, ad delivery/measurement in the free version, and diagnostics — not sold to data brokers.
Purchase-related metadata from Google Play (product ID, purchase token confirmation): used only to unlock premium/ad-free features; we never see card numbers or bank details.
IP address and device model in server logs: used briefly for security, abuse prevention, and crash diagnosis; not used to track you across unrelated apps or sites.
We do not collect or process sensitive categories such as racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, biometric data for identification, or precise geolocation.

Android permissions

GRIDY requests only permissions required for core functionality. We do not request access to your contacts, calendar, SMS, call logs, camera, or location.

INTERNET — sync saves, load daily puzzles, ads (free version), and in-app purchases.
VIBRATE — optional haptic feedback during gameplay.
WAKE_LOCK — keep the screen on during active puzzle sessions when the device would otherwise sleep.
MODIFY_AUDIO_SETTINGS — adjust game sound levels through the system audio stream.
Location permissions are explicitly removed from our app manifest even if ad SDKs merge them by default; GRIDY does not use GPS or network location.

How we use information

We use the information above to operate and improve GRIDY, restore your game progress, display leaderboards, serve and measure ads, process in-app purchases through Google Play, respond to support requests, prevent abuse, and diagnose crashes or technical issues.

GRIDY uses third-party services that may collect information used to identify you or your device, depending on your settings and region:

Advertising

The free version of GRIDY may show ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may use your advertising ID and similar signals to deliver and measure ads. Where required (for example in the EEA), we request consent before personalized ads through Google's User Messaging Platform. Premium users can play without ads after purchasing the ad-free upgrade through Google Play.

In-app purchases

Premium features and ad-free play are sold through Google Play. Payment processing is handled entirely by Google. We receive only the information needed to unlock purchased content on your account, such as purchase confirmation and product identifiers.

Log and diagnostic data

If the app or website encounters an error, we may automatically collect limited technical information to understand and fix the problem. This may include IP address, device type, operating system version, app version, and the time of the event.

Data retention

We keep game progress and account-related data for as long as your app installation uses our services or as needed to provide the game. Diagnostic logs are kept only as long as necessary to investigate issues. You may request deletion of server-side data linked to your device identifier by contacting us.

Your rights & choices

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export personal data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can reset your advertising ID in Android settings, opt out of personalized ads where offered, or contact us to request deletion of data associated with your device identifier.

Cookies (website only)

This website uses a functional cookie to remember your language choice. We do not use advertising cookies on the website. The Android app does not use browser cookies.

Children under 13 & target audience

GRIDY is not directed at children under 13 years of age (or the minimum digital consent age in your country). Children under 13 are not included in our target audience in Google Play Console. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us data, contact us at info@retrobymistake.com and we will delete it promptly. If we learn we collected data from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will delete that information.

Google Play User Data Policy

We designed GRIDY to comply with Google Play’s User Data policy and related program policies. We disclose data collection in this policy and in Google Play’s Data safety section, obtain consent where required (including for ads in the EEA), provide a way to request deletion, keep data collection limited to what the app needs, and handle data securely in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Security

We use commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
